FREMONT, Neb. – The Doane volleyball team battled through four hard-fought sets on Wednesday night but came up short against No. 17 Midland, 3-1 (22-25, 26-24, 25-19, 27-25), inside Wikert Event Center.
The Tigers opened strong, taking the first set 25-22 behind timely kills from Brooke Larsen and Kate Roseland. Doane nearly grabbed the second set as well, pushing Midland to extra points before the Warriors evened the match, 26-24. Midland then used efficient hitting in the third to build momentum and held off Doane's late push in the fourth for the victory.
Larsen paced the Tigers with 18 kills and 17 digs for a double-double, while Roseland added eight kills and two blocks. Setter Camdyn Carpenter directed the offense with 39 assists and chipped in nine digs.
