Rodriguez Named KCAC Women's Wrestler of the Week

Doane's Cristelle Rodriguez has been named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Women's Wrestler of the Week, presented by Equity Bank, for her performances against Hastings in dual action and at the Saint Mary (KS) Spire Open. This marks the third time this season that Rodriguez has received the honor. She went 5-0 on the week.

The Tigers hosted Hastings on January 24 in dual action with Rodriguez facing off against Larissa Kaz. The duo is ranked in the 123 NAIA rankings but wrestled at the 130 weight class for the dual. Rodriguez posted a 12-1 tech fall victory, her third of the season over Kaz.

At the Saint Mary Spire Classic, Rodriguez walked away with first place in the 130 bracket. The day started with a pin in 26 seconds followed by back-to-back tech fall wins, one over NJCAA No. 7 Bronwyn Brenneman. In the championship match, she defeated Nichole Moore, a past NAIA All-American and a reigning 23U US Marine Corp National Champion. The final was 4-4 with Rodriguez earning the win based on criteria.

Rodriguez and the Tigers will compete at the Grand View Open on February 4 in Des Moines, Iowa.
