Women's Wrestling Starts Season with Highest Program NAIA Ranking

Women's Wrestling will begin their second season of competition ranked No. 13 in the NAIA, their highest ranking in program history. The Tigers picked up 68 points for the poll, which is based on individual national rankings.

Pacing the Tigers in the individual rankings are the program's two returning All-Americans, Karina Vang and Cristelle Rodriguez. Both wrestlers are ranked No. 3 in their respective weight classes, 101 and 123. Vang placed sixth at 101 last season while Rodriguez finished third at 130. Also earning a Top 10 ranking is returning national qualifier Aevri Ciha. She is ranked No. 9 at 143 to start the season.

Four newcomers start the season in the Top 20 of their division. At 116, Lorelei Wydra is ranked No. 18. Abbie Ahrens is No. 20 at 130. Bridgette Sotomayor comes in at No. 13 at 136 and Aspen Barber is No. 20 at 155.

The Tigers start the season on November 4 at the Friends Open in Wichita, Kansas.
