Ciha Named KCAC Women's Wrestler of the Week

Aevri Ciha has been named this week's Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Women's Wrestler of the Week presented by Equity Bank based on her performance during the week of Oct 30-November 5. This is the first time that Ciha has received the honor in her Doane career.

Ciha opened the season for the Tigers with a 4-0 mark at the Friends Falcon Invite on Saturday in Wichita, Kansas. In winning the 143 division, she outscored her opponents by a combined score of 32-0.

To open the tournament, Ciha defeated Heidi Schultz of Friends with a 50 second pin. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Erma Williams of Avila by technical fall, 10-0. She followed with another 10-0 technical fall over Maya Kahbbaz of Schreiner to advance to the championship match. In the finals, Ciha defeated Sara Souresjhani of Avila by pin ini 2:51.

Ciha and the Tigers will return to action on Friday, November 10, at the Embry-Riddle Mile High Open in Arizona.
