Women's Wrestling Downed by No. 8 Statesmen

Women's Wrestling took on No. 8 William Penn (Iowa) on Saturday morning at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Statesmen posted a 30-15 win over the Tigers.

Doane finished with three wins on the day. In the 123 match, NAIA No. 1 Cristelle Rodriguez defeated No. 18 Grecia Martinez by pin in 42 seconds. Aspen Barber, ranked No. 20 at 155 won by tech fall over Kylee Eastwood, 10-0. Hailey Romero wrestled up a weight class and defeated Samantha Ruano at 191 by pin in 3:39.

Outside of the Rodriguez match, there was one other match pitting two ranked wrestlers as Bridgette Sotomayor wrestled up a weight class at 143. Sotomayor, ranked No. 17 at 136, took on No. 14 at 143, Isabelle Hawley. Hawley collected a 6-2 decision.

Doane's final match of the National Duals will be against Baker (Kan.) at noon.
