Vang Named First GPAC Women's Wrestler of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following inaugural women's wrestler-of-the-week for competitions between October 28-November 3, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2024-2025 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Karina Vang, Doane University – 103lb Weight Class

Doane University wrestler Karina Vang is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Wrestler-of-the-Week.  Vang, a junior from Fresno, California, took second place at the Falcon Open. She opened with a tech fall win and a decision victory to advance to the semifinals. She faced Piper Montoya, winner of the Brian Keck Memorial Preseason H.S. Nationals last weekend at 100 lbs. Vang pinned Montoya in 2:20. In the championship, she faced Audare Cruz, wrestling unattached and last year's 6th place finisher at nationals, falling 4-0.
