Vang Named GPAC Women's Wrestler of the Week

Sioux City, Iowa - The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following men's and women's wrestler-of-the-week for contests played December 2-8, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2024-2025 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Karina Vang, Doane University – 103lb Weight Class

Doane University wrestler Karina Vang is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Wrestler-of-the-Week. Vang, a junior from Fresno, California, won four matches and took second place at the Conner/Oppenheim Doane Open. She posted a 10-5 win over fourth-ranked Judy Sandoval of Grand View in the semifinals. Vang recorded an additional two wins by pin and a tech fall. Her lone loss in the tournament came to top-ranked Erin Hikiji, the 2024 NAIA national runner-up.

*This is the second time this year that Vang has receive GPAC Women's Wrestler of the Week honors.
