Women's Wrestling Records First-Ever Win at NWCA National Duals Tournament

Women's Wrestling took on No. 15 Oklahoma City in the consolation bracket on Friday afternoon at the NWCA NAIA National Duals. The Tigers won six matches to post a 29-17 victory. It is Doane's first win at the national duals, going 0-4 last year in their debut.

Doane fell behind 5-0 before rattling off three straight victories. Jaden Breeden defeated Sofia Abramson at 110 by pin in 1:38. Abramson was wrestling up a weight class but is ranked No. 15 at 103. Julia Breeden followed with a pin at 117 as she defeated Iby Garcia in 2:45. Cristelle Rodriguez posted a 12-0 tech fall win over Natalie Posada to give the Tigers a 14-5 lead.

Bridgette Sotomayor picked up a win at 138 as she defeated Devin Jansing by tech fall, 10-0. Aspen Barber defeated NAIA No. 11 Corin Lowe by pin in 4:23. Lowe had picked up a 6-5 win in the opening match of the season but Barber led today, 12-3, at the time of the pin. Lilianna Martinez picked up a forfeit win at 207.

Doane will face No. 9 Campbellsville in their next match at 5:30 PM.
