Women's Wrestling Wins First GPAC Dual Victory

HASTINGS, Neb. — The No. 11 Doane women's wrestling team put together a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 16 Hastings 33–13 in a dual held at Lynn Farrell Arena.

Doane opened the dual with authority, winning four of the first five bouts to quickly seize momentum. At 103 pounds, No. 17 Kimberly Navarrete set the tone with a fall at 2:39, followed by a lightning-fast pin from No. 13 (at 103) Karina Vang at 110 pounds just 1:13 into her match. Bettie Chambers added a hard-fought decision at 117 to earn a team point before No. 15 (at 117) Angelica Vicente Gonzalez secured another fall at 124 to give the Tigers a commanding early advantage.

Top-ranked (at 124) Cristelle Rodriguez continued Doane's surge at 131 pounds, earning a technical fall (10-0) in just 1:32 against No. 8-ranked Larissa Kaz. The Tigers continued to build their lead throughout the middle weights, highlighted by fall victories from Yazmin Belk at 180 pounds and No. 3 Jessica Rodriguez at 207.

In all, Doane recorded five falls and one technical fall, showcasing both depth and finishing ability across the lineup. The Tigers sealed the dual with back-to-back pins in the final two bouts, pushing the final margin to 20 points.

The win over a ranked conference rival further solidifies Doane's position among the NAIA's top women's wrestling programs as the Tigers continue their 2025–26 campaign. Next up for Doane will be the Midland Open on January 31 in Fremont.
