Reimers Pulls in First Career Touchdown Vs. #3 Mustangs

Football hosted No. 3 Morningside on Saturday in the annual Homecoming game. The Tigers gave the Mustangs a good battle but fell 38-7.

Morningside led 24-0 at halftime as they scored points on four of their five possessions in the half. Doane had three drives of six plays or more but was unable to come away with any points.

The second started with Doane intercepting a pass on the first play from scrimmage. Devon Jackson snagged a deflected ball to give the Tigers possession in Morningside territory. Cruz Kirwan found John DeRiso for a 19-yard completion on the first play following the turnover. After a pair of rushing attempts left Doane with third-and-long, Cruz connected with Karsen Reimers for a touchdown, the first of Reimers' career.

The Mustangs added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring on the day. Morningside finished with 458 yards in total offense with 275 coming through the air. Doane had 208 yards for the game, 161 from passing.

Cruz finished the game completing 19-of-41 for 161. DeRiso had seven receptions for 57 yards on nine targets. Rian Green led the ground game with six rushes for 46 yards.

Cooper Hancock led the defense with 13 tackles, including six solo and one tackle for loss. Jarett Boggs posted 10 tackles, two solo, with one tackle for loss. The defense collected four tackles for loss in the game.

The Tigers will spend the next three weeks away from home with two road games and a bye. Doane will travel to Sioux City, Iowa, next Saturday, October 7, to take on Briar Cliff at 1 PM.
