Doane Picked 10th by GPAC Coaches in Men's Basketball

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Doane men's basketball was tabbed 10th in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. Coming off a 9-19 season and a 4-16 mark in GPAC play, the Tigers are looking for a turnaround season with some key returners and new recruits ready to get the season underway.

Returning starters Jack Wilson and Casen Chaney will pace the Tigers. Wilson averaged 11.9 points while Chaney gave Doane 11.1 points per game for a balanced inside-outside presence for the returning core. Other returning players who will help provide depth in the rotation include Trey Connell, Nate Rust, Crayton Macholan, Aadam Coulibaly, and Kashwell Pugh.

A pair of freshmen and a pair of transfers also look to impact the Tiger lineup. Trevon Beckman follows in his parents' footsteps in becoming a Tiger while Justus Gardiner joins the program a year after his brother played at Doane. Both players, along with transfer Jonan Claussen, are expected to be starters when the season begins. Claussen played at Southeast CC last season. Aziz Hantous will add depth in the post, transferring in from Merritt College.

Doane opens the season on Friday, October 24, as they take on Kansas Christian at 6:30 PM in Crete.
