Men's Golf Places Fourth at Nebraska Intercollegiate
Doane Men's Golf posted a fourth place finish at the Nebraska Intercollegiate meet held in Norfolk on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers finished with a 36-hole score of 617 (311-306). The Doane "B" squad finished eight with a 634 (323-311). Southeast CC was the team champion with a 597 (299-298).
The varsity squad was led by Blake Andersen (SR/Grand Junction, Colo.) and Ryan Weiss (JR/Franklin, Neb.) as they tied for ninth overall. Andersen bounced back with a big second day to finish with a 152 (81-71) while Weiss had consistent play over the two days for his 152 (75-77). Achilleas Lazaridis (FR/Limassol, Cyprus) finished tied for 21st with a 157 (73-84). Andrew Paquette (SR/Beatrice, Neb.) tied for 31st with a 160 (82-78) and Julius Rauter (FR/Horb am Neckar, Germany) tied for 38th with a 162 (82-80).
Sam Arnold (SO/Elkhorn, Neb.) tied for 17th with a 155 (78-77) to lead the Tigers' second team. Blake Skoumal (SO/Omaha, Neb.) shot a 157 (81-76) to tie for 21st. Thomas Benninghoff (JR/Overland Park, Kan.) posted a 158 (82-76) to tie for 25th. Magnus Gulbrandsen (FR/Oslo, Norway) placed 42nd with a 164 (82-82) and Connor Podliska (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) tied for 49th with a 171 (87-84).
The Tigers will close out the fall season in Kansas City on October 10-11 at the Virginia McCoy Invitational at The National Golf Club.
