Men's Golf Ties for 25th at NAIA Nationals
Doane Men's Golf closed out their season on Wednesday after the second round of the NAIA National Championships in Mesa, Arizona. The Tigers missed the team cut (Top 18) as they finished the tournament tied for 25th.
On Tuesday, Doane was able to get out to a strong start in the afternoon round but as a storm blew in, the ability to play quality shots were limited. The round was eventually halted and would need to be finished on Wednesday morning.
The Tigers were up bright and early, out on the course to resume play at 6:00 AM. Doane concluded their opening round with a 319. Blake Andersen posted a 77 to lead the way. Andrew Paquette shot an 80 while Blake Skoumal and Ryan Weiss each shot an 81. Achilleas Lazaridis finished with an 84.
The second round started immediately after the conclusion of first and the Tigers bounced back with a 309 to finish with a 628 team score. Skoumal shot an even-par round of 72 to lead the team. Lazaridis posted a score of 78 and Weiss shot a 79. Paquette posted an 80 and Andersen finished with an 84.
Skoumal finished in a tie for 68th with a 153 (81-72). Weiss (81-79) and Paquette (80-80) tied for 125th with a 160. Andersen tied for 129th with a 161 (77-84) and Lazaridis tied for 131st with a 162 (84-78).
