Doane Men's Soccer posted one of the more memorable comebacks in school history as they posted a 3-2 victory over Jamestown on Saturday in Crete. The Tigers erased a two-goal deficit by scoring three goals in the final 16 minutes of play.
Jamestown took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a penalty kick, a lead they would take into halftime. The Jimmies added a second goal in the 55' of play to take a 2-0 lead.
Doane finally broke through in the 74' on a Jesus Maganda (SR/Schuyler, Neb.) shot that skipped past the Jamestown goalkeeper to cut the lead in half. In the 85' of play, Jarryd Stone (SR/Ballito, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa) fired a throw-in towards the goal and Garrett Scheet (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) redirected the ball to the back post and into the net to tie the game.
The Tigers continued to force the action and drew a foul in the goal box in the 86' of play to set-up a penalty kick attempt for Brody Mueller (SO/Liberty, Mo.) and he capped the comeback with a go-ahead goal.
Doane battled through the closing minutes, holding the Jimmies scoreless despite playing a man down over the final two minutes of play.
Hunter Pitt (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) picked up five saves while Jort Ruijssenaars had 10 saves for the Jimmies.
Doane will travel to Sioux City on Wednesday, September 28, to take on Briar Cliff.
