YANKTON, S.D. – Doane men's soccer earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Mount Marty on Wednesday evening at Crane Youngworth Field. The Tigers (2-8-3, 1-3-3 GPAC) picked up the tie behind a stellar defensive performance and a clean sheet from goalkeeper Curtis Oberg.
Oberg recorded nine saves on ten shots on goal (one team save), including six stops in the second half, to preserve the shutout—his second of the season. The Tigers' back line, anchored by Eduardo Morschel, Rodrigo Prieto, Pablo Rodriguez, and Luis Aragon, held firm despite being down a man for the final nine minutes after a red card in the 81st minute.
Doane generated 18 total shots with 10 on frame, led by Mateo Jelicich, who recorded four attempts and one on goal. Kai Goodman added two shots on target and contributed on set pieces, taking five corner kicks.
Mount Marty (2-5-3, 0-3-3 GPAC) finished with a 21-18 shot advantage, but neither side could break through in a match that featured 19 total corner kicks and five cards issued.
With the draw, Doane returns to action on the road this Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. as the Tigers continue their push in conference play against Dordt.
