Doane Softball dropped two games on Friday evening at No. 13 Northwestern. The Tigers dropped the first game, 7-0, followed by an 8-1 decision in game two.
In the opener, the game was scoreless until the sixth inning when the Red Raiders were able to break through. They plated seven runs (four earned) on five hits and a Doane error.
Camry Moore started and went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Emily Haines threw 0.2 innings, allowing three unearned runs on two hits and a walk.
Moore led the offense, going 2-for-2 at the plate. Doane finished the game with three hits.
In game two, Doane was the first to score a run. In the third inning, Hannah Baesler picked up a one-out single and promptly stole second base. She moved up on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch.
The Red Raiders responded with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. They used five hits, two walks, and a Doane error to collect the runs. In the sixth inning, Northwestern scored a run on a ground out.
Faith Molina started for the Tigers and went 2.2 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out two. Haines threw the final 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks with one strikeout.
Offensively, Doane received four hits from four different players.
The Tigers will take on Dordt on Saturday, April 15, in Sioux Center, Iowa. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM, pushed back one hour from the previously scheduled start time.
