No. 22 Chargers Down Women's Basketball

Doane Women's Basketball took on Briar Cliff in Sioux City on Saturday with the Chargers picking up an 80-57 win over the Tigers. Briar Cliff used their 3-point shot and pressure defense to get past the Tigers.

For the game, Briar Cliff shot 48-percent from behind the arc as they hit 12-of-25 3-point attempts. Doane was limited to 13-percent, 2-of-16, from behind the arc. BCU held an 18-4 scoring advantage in points off turnovers.

Doane was led offensively by Mak Hatcliff with 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor and 5-of-5 at the free throw line. She added six rebounds and two steals in the game. Macy Holtz posted 12 points on the afternoon and Rylie Rice finished with 10 points. Libby Trausch led the team with seven rebounds while Kali Staples had a team-high three assists.

Briar Cliff put each of their five starters in double figures, led by Madelyn Deitchler with 18 points. Payton Slaughter finished with 14 points and Peyton Wingert, a transfer from Midland, posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Doane will return home for the first time in more than a month when they host Dordt on Wednesday, January 11, at 6 PM.
