Dordt's Hot Hand Tops Women's Basketball

Doane Women's Basketball traveled to Sioux Center, Iowa, on Saturday to take on the top team in the GPAC, Dordt. The Tigers have been the only team to put a blemish on their record this year with a win in January but the Defenders were able to avenge the loss with a 99-65 win on Saturday.

Dordt shot over 80-percent from the floor in the opening quarter as they built a 31-14 lead. They would go on to shoot 60.7-percent for the game while hitting 17 3-point baskets. Doane was held to 38.6-percent shooting, making seven 3-point baskets.

Mak Hatcliff led Doane with 14 points while Megan Chambers and Maddie Portwine finished with 11 points apiece. Chambers and Rylie Rice led the team with four rebounds each. Portwine had a team-high three assists.

Doane will return to action on Wednesday, February 15, in Yankton, S.D., as they take on Mount Marty. Tip-off is set for 6 PM.
