Doane Women's Soccer opened their trip to the state of Washington by taking on College of Idaho. The Yotes are receiving votes in the NAIA national poll and were able to score twice in the first half to post a 2-0 win over the Tigers.
College of Idaho scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute as Lily Schlake scored. In the 28th minute, the Yotes added a goal from Payton Mongelli. For the game, COI out-shot the Tigers, 18-13, with shots on-goal in favor of the Yotes, 9-5.
Doane's best scoring chance came on a free kick in the final 10 minutes of the game as the shot attempt hit the crossbar. McKenna Rathbun (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) led the Tigers with four shot attempts.
The Tigers will take on Whitman (Wash.) on Sunday at 7 PM in Washington, 9 PM back in Crete.
