SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Doane women's soccer saw its season come to a close Tuesday night, falling 2–0 to Dordt in the GPAC Quarterfinal at Defender Soccer Complex.
The Defenders struck first in the 22nd minute when Maria Zylstra found the back of the net off an assist from Karinna Tel. Tel then doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute with her 23rd goal of the season to give Dordt all the offense it would need.
Virginia Johnson anchored the Tigers in goal, recording five saves across 90 minutes, including several key stops to keep Doane within striking distance. McKenna Rathbun and Megan Townsend each placed two shots on target, while Hayle Brodine and Savannah Franzoy also tested Dordt's defense.
Doane outshot Dordt 11–8 in shots on goal but couldn't break through against Defender keeper Lydia Zylstra, who tallied eight saves in the shutout effort.
The Tigers finish their 2025 campaign with an 8–9–2 record, advancing to the postseason for the third time in the last four years. Doane's fifth place finish in GPAC play was their highest finish since the 2012 season.
