Volleyball Snags Key GPAC Road Win

Volleyball posted a five-set road victory on Saturday evening in Sioux City over Briar Cliff. The Tigers took the first two sets before the Chargers battled back to win the next two. Doane fell behind early in set five but battled back to hold the lead as the teams switched sides of the court with the Tigers leading 8-7. The Tigers closed it out from that point on and posted a 25-19, 27-25, 15-25, 22-25, and 15-10 win.

Doane had 32 kills as a team through two sets but would run into trouble beginning in the third set, being held to six kills and a negative-0.170 attack percentage. The Tigers started to find their swing late in the fourth set, finishing with 13 kills, and then posted eight kills with a .192 attack percentage in the deciding set. For the match, they finished with 60 kills and a .073 attack percentage.

Frankie Curren-Graff led the way with a career-high 21 kills on 77 attacks. Delaney Burge added 13 kills as Camdyn Carpenter dished out 54 assists. Anna Sluka added to her team-leading total in ace serves, picking up two in the match.

Posting a career-high with 32 digs was Sophia McKinney as she led five players in double figures. Harper Case was joined by Carpenter with 20 digs apiece, Sophia Turek added 18 and Sluka finished with 17 digs. Burge led the team block with five total blocks while Olivia Navarro was in on four blocks. Doane had 9.0 team blocks.

The Tigers return home for a match against Concordia on Wednesday, October 18, in Crete. First serve is set for 7:30 PM.
