Timm's Heroics Lift Men's Basketball to Home Win

Doane Men's Basketball battled through a sluggish start and caught fire at the right time as they posted a 70-69 win over Midland on Saturday afternoon. The heroics of Brady Timm would give the Tigers the victory as he hit a 3-point basket at the buzzer to send the home crowd home excited.

Midland led 21-10 midway through the opening half. Doane would out-score the Warriors, 17-8, over the final 8:30 minutes to pull within two points, 29-27, at the break.

As the teams approached the latter stages of the game, Midland continued to chip away at the Tiger lead. The Warriors tied the game at 63-all on a 3-point basket from Colton Uhing with 2:29 to play. Midland went back in front with a layup on their next offensive possession.

The final 63 seconds would belong to Timm and Midland's Emanuel Bryson. The two players had guarded each other most of the night and they would trade offensive attacks to close out the game.

Timm started the action with a jumper with 1:03 to play to tie the game. Bryson put the Warriors back in front with a layup as he was able to rub off a screen to get to the basket. Timm came back with a jumper as the clock hit 18 seconds. Following a timeout, Bryson was able to draw a foul and went to the free throw line where he converted both attempts.

With seven seconds remaining, Timm to the ball the distance of the court as he was funneled up the sideline. He used a screen to rub Bryson off and took a stepback 3-point shot in the corner of the court. Timm hit nothing but net to give Doane the win as the final horn sounded.

Alec Oberhauser led Doane with 24 points and seven rebounds. Timm finished with 22 points, eight coming in the final stretch. He also had six assists and two blocked shots. Cooper Sheldon finished with 11 points and matched Oberhauser with seven rebounds.

Doane shot 44.4-percent (28-of-63) from the floor, 34.6-percent (9-of-26) from behind the arc, and 55.6-percent (5-of-9) at the free throw line.
